FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Sunday afternoon that Brandon Inge, once he cleared waivers at 2 p.m., was likely to join the Oakland Athletics. He confirmed the signing through a source later in the afternoon:
Inge, who was
unconditionally released by the Tigers after Thursday's game, was not claimed on waivers — meaning no team wanted to pay the remainder of his $5.5 million salary (not including the $500,000 buyout for the Tigers) — and will be paid the pro-rated portion of the MLB minimum salary of $480,000.
