Max Scherzer continued his personal hot streak, shutting out the Chicago White Sox for eight innings Saturday night, helping clinch a series win with the 5-1 victory.
His 15th win matches his career high, set last year, while he became the first pitcher in Major League Baseball to roll past the 200-strikeout plateau. It was the MLB-leading 12th time he struck nine or more out in a game, and the ninth start in a row he fanned at least eight batters.
Two hundred strikeouts is a lot, right Max?
"Yeah, obviously. That’s a feat that will probably sink in more once the season’s over. It’s not easy to strike guys out in this league because they have a game plan to go against you," he said Saturday night. "But obviously, to come out tonight, to obviously have the stuff I did, to be able to come up with the huge start, to be able to go eight scoreless in a game we really need, that’s what puts a smile on my face."
