Oddsmaker has Tigers as new favorite to win World Series, one month into 2014 season

DETROIT — After a month of the season, what’s changed?

Well, the Detroit Tigers are the favorites to win the World Series now, according to one bookmaker.

Bovada listed the Tigers as 13-to-2 favorites, leapfrogging past the preseason favorite Los Angeles Dodgers, who dropped to 15-to-2.

The other teams whose odds improved over the first month include the Yankees (now 10/1), Braves (11/1), A’s (12/1), Giants (14/1) and making the biggest leap, the Milwaukee Brewers from 66-to-1 to 14-to-1.

Bovada has the Tigers as favorites to win the American League L Central (4/11) and the AL pennant (13/4).

Miguel Cabrera (3/1) ranks behind Mike Trout (10/11) to win the AL MVP, while Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer (both 5/1) are behind only Felix Hernandez (9/2) as favorites to win the AL Cy Young.
