Tigers to host 'Play Baseball Detroit' community clinics on May 11

A few members of the Detroit Tigers training and coaching staffs will be in suburban Metro Detroit on Saturday for a pair of clinics in the "Play Baseball Detroit" program.

The first, hosted by Jet Box Baseball Club, will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 17051 24 Mile Road in Macomb from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.

The second, hosted by Oxford Recreation Baseball Association, will be from 10:15 a.m. to noon at Seymour Lake Township Park, 2795 Seymour Lake Road in Oxford.

The first two of four scheduled clinics to be held during the season, each will host 100 Little League players from their respective organizations. Facilitators for Saturday's clinics include hitting coach Lloyd McClendon, pitching coach Jeff Jones, strength and conditioning coordinator Javair Gillett and bullpen catcher Scott Pickens.

The "Play Baseball Detroit" program is dedicated to expanding and strengthening youth baseball and softball in the Metro Detroit area.
