The Tigers would prefer to come straight back to Detroit after finishing the regular season in Miami.
But they don’t want to unpack ... not for another 32 days, at least.
Major League Baseball released its postseason schedule Tuesday, with 26 days to go before the end of its regular season, clarifying when potential playoff teams will meet a month from now.
Should the Tigers clinch their third straight American League Central division title, they would start the postseason on Friday, Oct. 4. If they get in the postseason as a Wild Card, as they did in 2006, they’d start it two days earlier, facing the other Wild Card team for a spot in the divisional round.
The AL Championship Series starts Oct. 12, while the World Series — which begins in the AL city this year, thanks to the home-field advantage won in the All-Star Game — starts on Oct. 23.
