Tigers odds to win the World Series this season read like a roller coaster


Each month throughout the season, the odds for each team to win the World Series are updated by the bookmakers in Las Vegas.

The Tigers, installed among the favorites immediately after the conclusion of the last two World Series, have stayed there throughout this up-and-down season.

Until now, really.

According to the oddsmaker Bovada, the Tigers have 8-to-1 odds to win the World Series headed into September, only good for sixth best in baseball, behind the Angels, Dodgers, Nationals, Orioles and Athletics.

Which is not surprising if you've watched them play.

In fact, the odds for the Tigers have reflected their up-and-down play throughout the season. They were favorites to begin May and June, after a hot start, then dropped to third after that horrendous span from May 18-June 18. They rebounded to second for a few months, behind the then-red hot A's, before falling back again.
