Tigers' 2013 schedule released
Major League Baseball is more than accommodating for those of you who do, releasing its 2013 schedule on Wednesday.
The Detroit Tigers will open the season on the road at Minnesota on April 1, then host the New York Yankees for the home opener on April 5. In a scheduling quirk, the Tigers don't resume their AL Central rivalry with the White Sox until July 9.
With Houston moving to the American League, the schedule-making became more difficult with balanced (or odd, if you want to look at it that way) numbers of teams in each league, so there will be one interleague series ongoing at all times.
The Tigers' play seven interleague series next season, including a home-and-home with the Washington Nationals, owners of the best record in baseball this season. They'll visit Washington, D.C., for a two-game set on May 7-8, then host the Nats on July 30-31.
Other NL teams coming to Comerica Park include: the Atlanta Braves (April 26-28), the Pittsburgh Pirates (May 27-28) and Philadelphia Phillies (July 26-28).
The Tigers will four NL parks, including Miami's new park to end the season, Sept. 27-29. They'll also go to Pittsburgh (May 29-30) and visit the Mets (Aug. 23-25).
