Austin Jackson to start rehab assignment Thursday

Austin Jackson, who hasn’t played since May 16 with an abdominal strain, will head to Toledo on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment.

“That’s what we’ve been working for and now, it’s right there. We just have to stay with what we’re doing and it’ll be ready soon,” Jackson said.

He took batting practice for the second straight day Wednesday, and was able to run full speed without pain.

“That’s definitely a good sign. Probably the last three or four days I’ve been running full speed and it hasn’t been giving me problems,” Jackson said. “That’s what was holding me back when I first started. Now that it feels better, I think the next step is to find that time to get those at-bats (at Toledo).”
